What should be minimum education qualification for politician?
In a successful company like Infosys, reliance, wipro etc. a lot of management skill is needed and for that MBA and Technical graduates are very important root cause....so why for a big company I.e. our country INDIA no min qualification is needed for a politician for elections...so what should it be? Bcom,BE, MBA, plus a good working experience..or ?

- Graduations from any stream.
- No education is really necessary. Only honesty. Unfortunately, using that as a criteria would generally disqualify every politician.
- the minimum education qualification for a politician?
I think a term in prison should do it.
- OOOOhhh that is such a good question. Unfortunately, I have wrestled with that all my life. I am old now and while the kind of technical education you refere to absolutely doesn't take the place of good character, a moral, and ethical person. Don't need a greedy, evil sociopathic technical genius to be in charge now do we. It is late but I would like to tacke that old issue again. I will bring it up myself later this week and perhaps you will suggest and answer. I certainly don't hve it tonite. tired. But it must be solved as tenhnology only becmes more complex. At the other extreme, I cannot trust a religious head to interpet all that is going on. It looks impossible. We need a brilliant man? We need a man of highest morality and justice. Who is litke that. I am brillian and I am fair and want the best for this world. But I have a problem. I won't be the one. You probably won't the one. We need "the one."
- 6th grade. They should be able to add.
- Politics is the art & science of handling human emotions , where individual or a group.
So , for enacting & handling human emotions , its enough if you understand & imitate movies,TV serials...Drama... ( which we all crave.for during weekends... ..or etc..etc..)
If education helps , then all the great company's top boss , must have done.. it.. to higher rungs of politics... by now...
See...Politics is not about making money... the logical way......its about making money.. the emotional way..... so people.. with formal education will always...find it difficult to do that... so people.. opt for companies... and tell politics is dirty.......
Whether, politics...education...corpora... ..runs behind... money...
so I conclude... that there is no need for formal education for the politician...
- None. Education probably should influence the voters but it can not be a prerequisite for running.
- Einstien came close to the minimum
- I have met several people that have had an elementary level education, with a firmer grasp of reality, than these politicians we have now. Working lower paying jobs their whole lives, knowing what it takes to make sure the bills are paid. I think if we elected a few of these folks to office, we'd end up in a more balanced position.
Besides they might think a simple thought like 'hey that means I'd have to pay more taxes too', instead of make everyone pay more taxes.
- A diploma or degree is not a function of intelligence and work experience is almost always infinitely more valuable than a college education. While I would usually expect a candidate for President or VP to have a college degree, I am more than willing accept the appropriate work experience instead - especially for Senators or Congressmen.
To be totally honest, I could even vote for someone with nothing higher than a GED if the work experience was right.
- It requires a heart and soul to govern a nation besides other skills like management.
People that can capture the hearts of the masses get elected. When the voting masses themselves are not much educated, they would prefer to vote one like them, as they believe that the person would then understand their problems better.
It would be a good suggestion for the election commissioner to start putting a minimum education level for contesting elections. maybe they could start at rock bottom, with Kindergarten, in that way it would ensure nobody got kicked out for lack of education.(Kindergarten does not issue certificates so not having gone to one, would be hard to prove)
Over the next 2-3 generations they may raise it to an MBA in Nation management.
- A tremendous number of US politicians have a Bachelor's (minimum) and a law degree. I don't believe that this is an official requirement to run for political offices, but the winners usually have them.
- no educational qualification is needed
- A politician doesn't need any educational qulifications....................
The only thing a politician need is the ability to speak in front of crowds & take their attention............
- Why don't you check into this?

- In my opinion the minimum educational qualification should be BA having political sciense, sociology and philosphy as the main subject and most imortantly he should have clean character certificate. Any person having probed in some anti-social activities or probed in any kind of offence should be immediately debarred from taking contest in the election untill and unless he gets the clean chit from the hon'ble court.
- 70% MPs are Graduates and 30% post graduates, the less studied are 70 + in age and in those days studying upto matric or IA was a good deal!
- I don't think any education above High School should be necessary, but it should be mandated by the people. I mean there has not been a non-college graduate in congress for a long time now... it is a difficult process, and if you don't stand up to your peers you will not get in. The problem only occurs at the local level where power is least concentrated and therefore is the least likely to be messed up.
