Why the tax payers of india do not have the means to know how their money is spent by their politicians?
How can we make it possible? I as a indian citizen want to know how the money is spent on a particular project or by a particular politician. why is someone not going to court on this issue to get an order or why some one is not thinking to pass a bill on this issue? This transparancy can change india. I am wondering why atleast anyone is not talking about this which is the most important of all. I hope with this 90% of corruption will be out of our system. Can anyone suggest me how can we achieve this.

- Because that's how socialist countries are run.
I think another part of the problem is how uneducated most people are in India. For all the outsourcing and R&D on nuclear wepeons most people in India can't even read.
- We have the Freedom of Information Act which allows us to look up documents that are not classified by the US government. In other words we don't do to well on that one either.
- Its simple. This country (any democratic country) is run by representatives (MLA/MP) elected by people. All budgets have to passed in the assembly to be legal spending/earning. So where is the question of a citizen not knowing howmuch or where the amount is spent-?. The fault lies with the representatives, because it is their duty that the tax-payers' money is correctly utilised. Every one wants easy money, someoneelse's money. That is the typical attitude of 500 year old slavery life of average Indian. Unless the attitude of (particularly youth) is changed, and people are educated to what is their right (this means compulsory education and exposure to what is happening in the world around them) there is no betterment. Until then politicians keeping looting the peoples' money and also with them, the executive officials, down to the peon category.
So the target to better the system is "voting public should know what they are loosing or gaining by choosing a leader". Secondly, large part of present voting public (influenced by money/cheap handouts)are limited to lower middle class, and lower class. The others take holiday on polling day and donot bother to vote. So what right they have to question the elected representatives-? If the others also wake up and use their vote, I am sure there will be a great change in the scenery.

- Oh my dear your too funny. The pentagon bills a thousand dollars for a wood pencil under the category calculator. Congress allots money, and we have no way of knowing what anyone does with it, (especially our totally corrupt military which is just organized crime in a uniform). I think the way we all need to deal with criminals govt and others in all the countries is to become telepathic!. Much easier than revamping everything and more efficient too. I have a feeling and I so hope its true that India is going to be very blessed real soon. God's real fond of India.and if it wasnt for free will he would have made everyone there rich a long time ago.
- I dont know either
- It is ultimately left to us to ask this questions. Earlier there were two kinds of paupers, those who came once in five years and those who remained for the rest of five years.
Now the new RTI act provides the common man the power to now ask these questions and now receive answers.
- all goverments are corrupt to a certain degree one of the problems is to many politicians what ever party they belong to they will cover each others backs when it comes to there money just look at the c/ market gravy train, if no one voted for them would they go? you have a big problem im not sure what the answer is
