Who is more powerful person in india-" politician or public"?

this is a topic of discussion . I hope , most of the reader of this question are non political. so we have to finalise "are we able to choose our real leader without any hesitation"

1. the most powerful people are actually the criminals - they tell the politicians what to do or become politicians themselves - the police report to them and the judiciary eats out of their hands - so they have nothing to fear - they rule India
   
   The public have no power at all - because its not a democracy at all - its a sham - votes are cast in the villages for Rs 10 bribe or the fear or the gun - and this enables criminals to rule us
2. in any given situation, the power should reside in the hands of the people. however, in reality, the power from these people may sometimes being handed over to a few elites and thereby forfeiting their rights to decide.
   
   for india's case, I believe the situation is exactly the one that I described above...
3. according to me though it is the public who elect the politicians, their power ends right there. once the politicians come to power all their promises (if one may call them so) are forgotten only until the next election.
   with parties fighting amongst themselves instead of fighting as a nation against the corrupt practices, our nation is going from bad to worse in terms of political power!!! it is up to us youth to lead this country of ours into a brighter future and make the world a better place to live in.
