- We were the olympic champions in Hockey once upon a time but then we have been pushed backwards.
Many sports activities and athletic activities are not yet encouraged so much but it is not as if there is NO ENCOURAGEMENT at all. Slowly it is being built up but much more needs to be done.
Right from young age talents have to be located , selected and state has to take the responsibility to give them training and proper type of food etc etc.
If individuals are to come up as in cricket it does not happen in games like football.
- here every thing goes in corruption every student in most of the sports schools are frm the politicians or a V.I.Ps families even they dont have stuff they ll join in it. What about the good player he rome aroung some politicians, and he never get seet in thoes sports schools.
- Very good question ! First and the most prime factor is the MONEY. As there aren't any enough money in football. As I'm talking about Indian field. So, no investor, no sponsorships will be interested in Indian football. And Secondly, is the politics on the game as good players will be deprived for chances. Thirdly, Indian Sports Authority is least bothered for development. Well there r lots... of factors........ not enough space for me.
- well, it is becoz India had ben under the British Raj for so long that it imbibed some of British customs. Remember, Cricket was wholly a british game earlier.
Moreover, cricket resembles india's traditional game - GILLI DANDA, and Indians, since then, were able to identify with cricket.
Actually, it just depends on the nation... similarly, I can ask - why is USA so fixated on Baseball and not on cricket?
- becoz of compitition
cricket have less then ten good teams while soccer have many
- Cricket is India's national game. All of the sponsership money etc. goes to cricket as that is what people are passionate about. It will take a long time to become competitive on the world stage, it will take a lot of players being discovered and going to play in Europe. Look at Australia, they have had many players in Europe for many years, have a national league, but this is the 1st time they have made the world cup for 32 years. Only after some success will money flow into the game allowing it to be more successful
- Probably because there is little money to be made today in Indian soccer(broadcasting revenues, national stadiums' revenues, etc), but that should change greatly in the next decade.
- Because cricket has more tradition...if we think..the british people come to India in 1600...and they played cricket .. and the football was invented in 1830..
- The indian kids are born witha cricket ball not a foot ball.... in India the game has very less propoganda.... to start with all their national heroes are cricketers.... football is a lonely sport in India... U need heroes to follow... or one has to bee a hero to take the lead
- because indians have more time to waste. so they waste their full day watching cricket
