Does India lack the required facilities to produce world-class tennis stars?

  1. Yes. And if you think about it, even if India does have the required facilities, how many indian would rather use their time to practice tennis than going to school or work? I only know of one, but her rank (the last time I checked) is fifty.
  2. India has produced a few good players, though no one that has been dominating. The Amritraj brothers, Vijay and Anand. Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupati were very good doubles players. Ramesh Krishnan and his father Ramanathan Krishnan.

While facilities may be an issue, there may also be the problem with India's interest in other sports, most particularly, cricket. You'd think population would allow India to produce a few great players. However, China has yet to produce a top male or female tennis player.

India can produce world-class tennis players, but doesn't appear ready to produce stars.
  3. Yes. India definately doesnt have the necessary infrastructure required to make a potentially world class player. The facilities and tennis coarts are not upto the mark.
