He served in the US Army Air Force in WW2 as a tailgunner & was awarded the DFC.
He was married to Marilyn Cooper, an actress, til his death of a heart attack in 1963.
He's buried in Forest Lawn - Hollywood Hills Cemetery.
His son established the rock band Sabu in 1980s, & his daughter was an animal trainer.
