Who of the four is the best cricketer? Ricky Ponting, Jacques Kallis, Sachin Tendulkar or Brian Lara?
All four of them are mainstays of their respective teams.

- What a hard question to answer.
Jacques has such a long way to go, being so young ans has shown his ability.
Sachin is a machine.
Lara, the ledgend has shown he can get the high scores.
Ricky, is an allrounder who is calculating but heartfelt.
His decision to call in so as not to break Bradmans record also showed he has respect.
I would say Ponting.
- Who, however do you think is the best of them all?
- LARA, for test matches &
Tendulkar, For one dayers
- def sachin
and I dont watch cricket
- u know any1 who give this question answer will be on his personal likeliness. because when u compare them . every1 stand beside one another.. so my pick is SAchin Tendulkar.. making runs consistantly from his first international cricket day.. now a days hes struggling but he will come back strongly.. ponting now is on high of his prestigiuos career.. hes the gr8 captain and batsman of all time.. Kallis is another one who doing runs as consistant as sachin.. he the one of the best wall on the wicket for SA.. and LARa.. the record maker of Test cricket.. Prince of WI.. the gr8 beautiful batter of all time.. y u ask this type of question.. I like all these 4's :( but Sachin is my pick..
- The king Brian Charles Lara, matchless. Put any of the other three in his position in the mediocre west indies team and none of them would have the records Lara has. If Lara played in the indian, south african, or australian team and his record/average would be much higher. Maybe 600 not out against west indies bowlers.
- Statistics and current form may vary from time to time. But looking at the overall career consistency and technique, it's Sachin Tendulkar. He may not be in his prime now, but you can't deny his mastery of the game.
- its very difficult to answer but I think Sachin with his great record & I also think Ponting is going to break his record
- thr's no comparison., all of them are legends., hv got different styles of batting and contribute to the team in thr own way.,I cant find an area whr one is weak and the other is strong..but if ya talk about a total cricketer I guess kallis is best as an all-rounder.
- Sacin tendulker ofcourse. Making over14000 runs with 39 centuries in ODIS and above 11000 runs in tests with 35 centuries is not an easy task
- Tendulkar, he rules.
- sachin tendulkar
- Sachin on the other hand is the highest run getter in ODI'S and has records galore. At present a little out of form but possibly the greatest that ever was and ever will be.
- Current form - Ricky Ponting
- "greatest that ever was and ever will be" Does it mean none can break Sachin's records?
But another Indian is going to break his records in the future. The day is not far when another Sachin ++ we will see. After Gavaskar -----> Sachin------>the next is awaited(surely he will be an indian)
Your question's answer: Sachin Tendulkar has no match.....
- Jacques the youngest of the lot is the best batsmen of the South african team at present. One of the best all rounders ever. He has a fabulous record with over 15,000 runs and nearly 400 wickets in the international arena.
- Ricky has often led from the front and delivered the goods when it really mattered. He has amassed the maximum runs in the last two years and is at present topping the I.C.C cricket rankings. Being an ace fielder helps as well.
- No doubt, Brian Charles Lara.
Look at the stats!
- Sachin of course...
- Brain Lara
- Right now Ricky Ponting is the best batsman of the those mentioned but Kallis is the first one you would take due to his bowling. He is not far behind Ponting in current batting ability but his allrounder status makes him the best value.
Right now Ponting, Dravid and Kallis are the three best batsmen in the world, Tendulkar and Lara would probably not rank in the top 10 on current form. Both are ageing and at the 135-140 test mark and are in downward trends.
In ODI games Ponting adds brilliant fielding and a higher scoring rate and captaining ability so he may be more useful then Kallis. In ODIs Kallis' allround ability isn't as important as most teams have plenty of ODI allrounders to choose from to make up the 50 overs.
- Lara & Ponting.
- well it is like someone asking which finger you would choose to be best and as per me all my fingers are useful and best. But if you have to make a decsion on the technique, consistancy, all rounder abilities and master craftmanship it would be Sachin, closely followed by Ricky and Kallis.
- since you told cricketer and jack kalis is the only ollrounder, so I vote for him,
- undoubtedly Ricky Ponting. he comes up with great performance when needed.
sachin, lara, kallis have no great history of match winning innings single handedly.
- We South Africans hate Australians for 3 reasons
(1) Our forefathers were not criminals
(2) We speak proper English
(3) We do not like the way they tenderize their sheep
I would , at this stage, vote for Ponting, not just for his batting but his up yours attitude to the Aussies who critised him after the ashes!!
- Brian Lara is surely the superstar and mainstay of a relatively mediocre West Indian team. Known for playing big innings, he is the only cricketer to have touched the magical figure of 400 in test matches.
- Tough one!
At present I would have to say Ricky Ponting. He's been the best for me over the last 18 months.
In terms of the best career so far, Sachin just edges Brian Lara. Even though Lara holds all the highest scores (first class and test), when Sachin hits top gear, he is near invincible.
Jacques Kallis has the potential to be one of the best ever and on his day is a world-beater but he still has a long way to go. Plus he needs to up his strike rate which at present is a little too slow.
- Sachin Tendulkar
